About Us

The day we closed on our Fixer Upper Home

The day you buy your first home changes your life forever, especially if you bought a fixer upper.  Did we know what we were signing up for?  Yes, I think we were pretty well informed about the challenges of purchasing a home that needed fixing up, but maybe we weren't as prepared for the trial and error that the process would entail.

My husband and I are both well versed in DIY projects.  Having grown up in the country helping his dad and uncles fix up houses his whole life and having worked as a home painter for a period of time, my husband is well experienced in many of the plumbing, electrical, roof-care, and technical projects that we knew we would face.  I also spent many years working beside my step father on various home-care projects and have a college education in Architecture and Landscaping.

Our children and home renovation helpers.

We have 3 children who are always eager to lend a hammer, drill, or painting hand to our projects. While it's not always easy to work together and sometime our projects take longer than expected, we make the *almost* perfect home-repair team.

Learning together from past experiences (and a fair bit of watching Youtube tutorials) we work together to update and improve our 1975 Rancher.  Please join us in our journey through fixer upper home ownership and feel free to ask questions, share your own story, or offer helpful suggestions in our comments section at the bottom of each post.
